Guelt Nautic, alongside the America’s Cup challengers

Published on 22 January 2021

Held for the first time in 1851 (making it the oldest trophy in international sport), the America’s Cup pits the world’s best sailing teams compete aboard revolutionary boats specially designed for this extraordinary race.

The first duels of the 36th edition of the America’s Cup are currently taking place in Auckland (New Zealand) between the defenderEmirates Team New-Zealand and the 3 challengersLuna Rosa Prada Pirelli Team Italia, New York Yacht Club American Magic – Team USA and Ineos Team UK.

The 2021 America’s Cup is divided into 3 main stages to decide between the 4 competitors:

  • The opening of the race – Prada America’s Cup World Series Auckland – took place from December 17 to 20, 2020 to test in real conditions the new monstrous boats of power, speed and technology.
  • The duels of the Prada Cup – elimination series – contested from January 15 to February 22, 2021 by the 3 challengers will determine the team that will face the defending champion in the final
  • The final, which will take place from March 6 to 21, 2021, will see the current defender Emirates Team New Zealand (winner of the 35th edition in 2017) face off against the best challenger of the Prada Cup.

For this 2021 edition, Guelt Nautic has machined highly technical parts for 2 of the 4 AC75, monohull racing boats equipped with foils offering exceptional speed performances. Thanks to its foils, a real technological feat, the 30m high and 20m long sailing boat is able to right itself if it capsizes.

Solicited by Ineos Team UK and Luna Rosa Prada Pirelli Team, our team of passionate technicians has been accompanying the teams since March 2019 in the design of these monohulls: we have notably manufactured the load-bearing plans for Ineos and equipped the Luna Rosa with high-tech parts.
